北区長 花川 與惣太（よそうた）
人と自然、そして交通利便性の高さ、これらの恵まれた北区の資産を活かし、区民の皆さまが「ふるさと北区」を誇りに思い、住みたいまち、選ばれる自治体となることを目標に、より個性豊かで、魅力的なまちづくりを進めています。
少子高齢化や集中豪雨、そして、今後発生が懸念される首都直下型地震。北区が抱えるこれらの課題に対し、「子育てするなら北区が一番」、「長生きするなら北区が一番」、「水害・地震に強い安全安心なまちづくり」を優先課題とし、「区民とともに」という区政運営における基本姿勢のもと、北区基本構想の将来像「ともにつくり未来につなぐ ときめきのまち−人と水とみどりの美しいふるさと北区」の実現を目指しています。
この要覧を通じ、多くの方々に、私たちのまち北区の魅力を知っていただき、区政についての理解を深めていただければ幸いです。

Since the Edo period, the City of Kita has been known as a vacation destination where one can enjoy the changes in all four seasons including the cherry blossoms at Asukayama and the waterfalls and fall foliage along the Shakujii River. Even today, along with these natural attractions, the City of Kita is a city filled with greenery and blessed with four rivers including the Arakawa River and the Shakujii River. The JR, subway, and Toden lines run through this convenient and vibrant city with its bustling shopping streets. This is an energetic city where individual residents lead bright and lively lives.
Using the assets of the City of Kita such as its people and nature as well as the convenient transportation, we aim to continue building an appealing and even more unique community where residents can be proud of their “City of Kita hometown” and a place where people want to live and can participate in the selection of local officials.
In the face of recent concerns such as the declining birthrate and aging population, localized downpours and the fear of a strong earthquake occurring underneath the capital, the issues that the City of Kita considers top priority include making “the City of Kita the number one place to raise children”, “the number one place to live a long life”, and “community building to provide safety and peace of mind in case of floods or earthquakes.”
Based on the fundamental stance of operating the city government “with the city residents,” the City of Kita aims to realize the future vision of the City of Kita Basic Concept which is to “build together to pass on to future generations ? an exciting city ? the City of Kita, a hometown with beautiful people, water and greenery.”
Through this guide, we hope to share the appeal of our City, Kita, with everyone and for people to gain a deeper understanding of the city government.
